This past Saturday, ESLT hosted a GPS (Global Positioning System) Field Workshop in conjunction with the owners of Snowcreek Resort in Mammoth Lakes. The second annual event took place in Snowcreek Meadow, taking advantage of the beautiful paths and views the property has to offer. Check out some photos from the day:

Aaron Johnson, ESLT's Lands Program Coordinator, lecturing participants on GPS theory and practice.

After the lecture, we broke into two small groups, and were set out into the meadow on what we like to call the “treasure hunt”. Participants took turns finding GPS coordinates in the Meadow with their GPS units, learning how to enter in points and following the arrow on their unit to find the next point. At the last point, participants found the treasure – a bag of cookies from Great Basin Bakery in Bishop. What a treat!

Judy Robinson finding a coordinate!

We enjoyed beautiful views and wildflowers for the entirety of the workshop.

Aaron Johnson thanking everyone for participating.

Stay tuned for our next GPS Field Workshop, and happy wandering!
