L&L Anniversary Banner

We are tremendously grateful to our supporters for their remarkable generosity during ESLT’s 21st Annual Lands & Legacy Celebration! Our community came forward to ensure the protection of Eastern Sierra land and wildlife at this critical time for conservation.

This past week we heard from two excellent speakers, tasted delicious California wines, and safely gathered together for a Citizen Science BioBlitz. If you were unable to attend, or if you would like to dive back in, we are sharing recordings of our talks with David Carle and Matt Lee-Ashley at the bottom of this page.

Matching Gift Extends Paddle Raise Through September 5th

Thanks to a last-minute, anonymous donation, we are excited to announce that a $10,000 matching gift has extended our Paddle Raise through September 5th! This incredible gift matches up to $10,000 in donations to facilitate conservation easements and all the work that goes into them. All gifts made through Labor Day will be doubled and will help to permanently protect the thousands of acres of critical land in our queue.

Conservation easements are at the core of what we do, and this targeted matching gift will greatly benefit the natural and working lands of the Eastern Sierra. As we look to the future, expanding our land protection is critical to ESLT’s role in meeting the state’s 30×30 commitment to protect 30% of our lands and coastal waters by 2030.

The State of Conservation,
With Matt Lee-Ashley

Matt Lee-Ashley, Chief of Staff for the White House Council on Environmental Quality, spoke at our annual Paddle Raise about recent advances and goals for conservation and combatting climate change. Matt excited us with news about innovative and collaborative conservation work being done across the country by communities, Native nations, nonprofits, and others. The ambitious 30×30 Initiative in California requires all hands on deck, and Matt emphasized the important role of land trusts in reaching the commitment to protect 30% of California’s lands and coastal waters by 2030.

Author Chat With David Carle

We were excited to be joined by conservationist, author, ranger, educator, and Eastern Sierra lover, David Carle. An acclaimed author, David presented on wildfire in the Eastern Sierra and presented graphics and figures from his recently published 2nd edition of Introduction to Fire in California.
