SUMMARY:Volunteer Day: Sage-Grouse Habitat Enhancement
DESCRIPTION:Come help Eastern Sierra Land Trust and the Bureau of Land Management as we team up to care for land where our Bi-State sage-grouse live\, for two back-to-back Stewardship Days. On September 6th and 7th\, we need as many hands as possible to work on habitat enhancement projects on land that the sage-grouse calls home. \nWe will be using hand tools to convert a permanent fence to a let-down fence\, and we’ll be maintaining other fences in the area. Let-down fences are able to lay flat on the ground during peak sage-grouse breeding season\, and then are able to be put back up during grazing season. This helps sage-grouse\, pronghorn\, and mule deer migrate safely. \nBoth workdays are family friendly\, and all are invited to lend a hand. Please bring a hat\, closed-toe shoes\, sunscreen\, a camera\, and water. Please leave pets at home. Follow the event on our \nFor more information or to volunteer\, please contact Marie at marie@eslt.org or (760) 873 – 4554. See you there! \nPhoto by Bob Wick\, BLM. \nDriving Directions: \nThese stewardship events will meet at Bodie State Park at 8 a.m. each morning and end onsite at 12 p.m. From Bishop\, drive north on Highway 395\, turn onto Hwy 270/Bodie Road and continue past the guard station at the State Park entrance. Meet in the parking lot with the restrooms. We can caravan to the work site.
