“Twenty years ago a handful of friends met to paint at a coastal California Bluff.” So begins the history of the Oak Group. When the group of friends found out that the very open space they painted was going to be developed, they decided to bring attention to the development by holding a exhibition of their paintings. Now, twenty years, fifty-four some odd exhibitions, and over 1.5 million in painting sales (half of which is donated to conservation groups), the Oak Group is working to preserve the beloved Eastern Sierra.
The Oak Group’s first show in the Eastern Sierra in 2009 was a resounding success, with each artist donating 50% to ESLT in support of ESLT’s work preserving the Eastern Sierra. Now, we are excited to announce the second Oak Group Show and Sale, Eastern Sierra Landscapes, this year held in Santa Barbara!
Beginning September 2, 2010, at the Faulkner Gallery in the Santa Barbara Public Library, and running throughout the month of September. Click here for a map and gallery hours. Twenty three Oak Group artists and 3 Eastern Sierra guest artists will be participating in the show.

We’d also like to announce a Special Event – ESLT is partnering with the Land Trust of Santa Barbara County to offer a special member picnic at the famous Arroyo Hondo Preserve on Saturday, September 11, 2010. “Called the ‘Jewel of the Gaviota Coast,’ the 782-acre Arroyo Hondo Preserve is a magnificent canyon located west of Santa Barbara between Refugio State Beach and Gaviota State Park.” Open only to Land Trust of Santa Barbara members, this is a unique and special opportunity for ESLT members to take advantage of. Please email to reserve your spot today! Not an ESLT member? Become a member and experience the beauty of this preserve.
