ESLT will begin a Brown Bag Lunch Series in the first week of May. This is a program we have wanted to start for awhile, and we’re really excited to get it off the ground. Lunch and discussion will take place in our garden, which will continue to bloom as the series progresses throughout the summer.

The purpose of the series is to provide a way for people to find out about new happenings in our community. ESLT has a great garden space for folks to take advantage of during lunch time. We hope that this series will provide topics of interest for discussion, while allowing people to stay connected to the ESLT community each month. Ideas for speakers are always welcome!

The first Brown Bag Lunch will take place on Wednesday May 5th at 12:30pm. We will be hosting Selim Sandoval, a Green the Rez Campaign member working with the local Bishop Paiute Tribe. He will introduce us to the work being done on the reservation to promote renewable energy and sustainable living.

ESLT first became acquainted with Mr. Sandoval when Karen, Mignon, and Sarah attended a Permaculture workshop last month sponsored by the Bishop Paiute Tribe. Permaculture is a conscious integrated design system based on ecological principals that creates resource efficient and productive human environments, while reducing our footprint on the earth. These systems yield an abundance of shelter, water, energy, and food for the provision of local needs.

Mr. Sandoval is a mover and shaker within the local tribal community, with great enthusiasm and presence. He will be a lively first speaker for ESLT’s series.

Come out and join us next Wednesday in what will be the first of many opportunities for discussion. Everyone is welcome! Bring a lunch. For more information, please contact Sarah Spano at or call 760-873-4554.
